The vintage bottling of this wine is a 50/50 blend of Pommard clone and Wadenswill 2A, with 25% whole cluster of the 2A clone from the Deep End of Anderson Valley. Yes, higher priced now, it had to be. Dark ruby in color. Spice aromas, black fruits, plums, blackberries, clove, anise and pennyroyal scents. Aromatically complex, fragrance dancing in the glass. A pleasurable perfume, if you will, with toasty oak notes. On the palate, big, bold, spicy black fruit, with medium tannin. Full-bodied, masculine, with plenty of grip. Some sage-like herbiness. A full-bore tongue coating Pinot Noir, but still restrained. Definitely a steak, roast beef, or venison wine. I believe this will improve with some age, but heck, drink it now. A delight!
