Woodenhead 2018 Zinfandel, Mariah Vineyard, Mendocino Ridge
Woodenhead 2018 Zinfandel, Mariah Vineyard, Mendocino Ridge
Sold out.
Unique in the fact that this vineyard is in proximity to the coast, gets windy yet gets plenty of daytime heat. At 2400’ elevation, it’s definitely a mountain vineyard. Dry farmed.
Dark ruby. Aromatically earthy with the black fruit spectrum dominating, and a woodsy bramble-like nose.
A manly wine, wow! Ripe and juicy. Not for the faint of heart, although any appreciating woman with a lust for life and an appetite would surely enjoy it too! Maybe I just mean masculine vs feminine. Palate is chewy with a moderate tannin, stone fruit, blackberry and some briar notes. A mouthful.
How about an aged cheddar, or a buttered gorgonzola smothered steak?
Beware all ye who enter ….
Approachable and delicious.
